The Gods of First Light Episode 1 - /tg/ Edition

What spurred me to start this DevBlog was the frankly overwhelming interest of 4chan's Traditional Games board - or /tg/ for short. No sooner had I posted First Light's mangled and very alpha-stage rules to the board than people started rolling up gods and demanding such things as a Kickstarter with which to throw money at my project or, yes, a humble DevBlog.

What follows are several of the gods rolled by humble mostly-anonymous users of /tg/, with art by user JSCervini - used with permission, of course. And so, without further ado, let us be introduced to the first gods of First Light, starting with JSCervini's own creation, Opus!

Opus

Opus is a god of sheer creative energy. Following no rhyme or reason aside from an intense desire to know and create everything He is able to grasp with his mechanical tendrils, Opus creates all that He can imagine, and treats His inventions - both sentient and not - with both an intense pride and a morbid curiosity. After all, Opus reasons, does one truly know what they have made until they push their creation to the ultimate limits of its endurance?

The Lady of the Ocean

Matron of all water and life, the Lady of the Ocean knows well how important she is to all living things on the planet, and takes great pride in her abilities to provide for all of them. Intensely wrathful but still ultimately good at heart, the Lady takes great interest in the conflicts of mortals, especially in the sea battles that span the surface of Her oceans. In her more creative, contemplative moments, the Lady is known to sculpt impressive coastlines, cliffs, and fjords, inspiring abject awe and wonder in all but the most hard-hearted mortals.

The Burden of Truth

Have you ever learned an unpleasant truth? Something you wish so dearly you could rip from your mind's eye and toss violently away, to be trod on and forgotten?

The Burden of Truth has learned every single one of these things, as a god of knowledge and torment, and delights in sharing them with fragile mortal minds that need an ever-so-slight push that only the cold, painful embrace of the unadulterated truth can provide. Mortals cower in fear at the call of the Burden, for none can deny the horrifying truth of his words, though they may seek fruitlessly to delude themselves, driven mad at the thought of That Which Must Not Be but now Plainly Is.

The Anagram Man

Sometimes preferring the moniker "Mr. Anathemanag," the Anagram Man is a gruff, bitter old god who has seen more than even time can remember. Memories play tricks in his mind, inciting madness in himself and others, and he often spreads venomous inklings of the things he knows, inspiring mortals to great feats of knowledge as his dubious blessings gnaw away at their sanity. Though he genuinely cares for his children and worshipers, they often slip his mind, causing him to neglect their very existence or "bless" them with intensely delusional fever dreams, as is his fickle wont.
